Treetop Memories
“Can’t we just build regular cabins, Father?”
“Ah, my son, why do tourists come here?”
“To explore ruins, visit the acropolis, see the Chimera, walk by the sea—”
“They want experiences, memories, adventure!”
“Maybe… I think people like to be comfortable…and safe.”
“Tsk. Everyone sleeps on ground. Those who come to my pension hope to sleep in treetops with birds! They want snug nests, sunlight sprinkled on leaves, wind in hair. Build these, and birds will fly to us from all over the world!”
“Won’t the tourist sites be enough?”
“Certainly not! They will best remember the treetop!”

I’m all for adventure… however! I would hate to roll over and down! He might want to build a net? 🙂

I suppose that is a minor detail he might want to address! I’m HOPING he’s just gotten started on the project and isn’t quite done. That looks like a long way to fall!

Right! Hopefully, we are in the beginning stages of construction!

Fingers crossed! Otherwise, I think there will be a lawsuit or two…hehe.

Definitely memorable! Hopefully it will be safe by the time they’re finished with construction. Thank you for reading and commenting, Neil!

I would enjoy that IF there were appropriate safety measures! I think it would great to sleep in a tree, enjoy a summer breeze—just as long as I can get down when I’ve had enough 🙂

Yes! Don’t want to get stranded up there, but it IS lovely.

He’s right as I know from personal experience having rented a quite luxurious one!

Aren’t they great?? The one I stayed in was far from luxurious, but it was delightful! A wonderful memory for sure.

Father is a wise man, and a good man for teaching his child.

I think so too! I love his passion and vision and I like how he stretched his son’s perspective.

They both have good points; adventure with comfort and safety. Nice story!

Agreed! Put them together, and I think they’ll have a booming business and people will flock to visit :). Thank you!

Yeah, I still think I’d prefer a cabin.

Dad has a point. I’ve read about treehouses you can book, but forgot where it was. Fun story.

Thank you! I think they too of them might end up with a good balance :). The treehouse I stayed in was many years ago in southern Turkey, but they are probably other places as well.

Dear Angela,
It could be very memorable. For those of us with fear of heights, a little too memorable. 😉 Nicely done.
Shalom,
Rochelle

I hadn’t thought about fear of heights…perhaps it’s best for some people to choose ground-based adventures :). Thank you for reading and commenting, Rochelle!

Nice story and authentic-sounding dialogue. A friend of mine would stay in a treehouse somewhere in western Maryland when she needed to get away from it all, so it does exist and it is memorable.
